Daoíri Farrell – Wed 25th July – 8pm – St Bronaghs Club Rooms

Singer and bouzouki player Daoiri ( pronounced “ Derry “) Farrell has been described by the great Donal Lunny as “ one of the most important traditional singers to emerge in the last decade.  Six months after the release of his album “ True Born Irishman “, Daoirí won two prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2017 for Best Newcomer and Best Traditional Track.
“ The creamy forthrightness of Paul Brady, the nuance of Andy Irvine and the respect for material of Christy Moore “  Some comparisons!  Daoirí Farrell has the conviction and wherewithal to justify them.

Hailing from the cities of Armagh and Derry, and made up of Ciara McCafferty [vocals], Ciaran Carlin [Flute/Whistles] and Paul Starrett [Guitar]. Emer Mallon [Harp] and Conor Mallon [Uilleann Pipes/Whistles], Connla have been quickly making an impact on the folk/traditional scene and have been labeled as the “hottest new group out of Northern Ireland by the Chicago Irish American News.

Their sensitive and innovative arrangements of traditional and modern folk songs and tunes  have helped them create a sound which is very identifiable as Connla.
